Because of the rainy climate of Bartin, the mountains around it are almost covered with dense and green forests.In Bartin and around it, mild sea climate is common.Summers are rainy and cool, winters are snowy and cold. Annual temprature difference is not excessive. The warmest month is july and the coldest one is january. The average of the rain amount in every season is close to each other. The rain regime around Bartin is regular.

Different kinds of fish can be fished in sea and rivers, in every season every kind of animal can be hunted.Bartin is an indispensible place with its bays beginning in Kizilkum and finishing in the border of the kapisuyu river, popular excursion spots,sea and sun.

The title “Bartin Houses” which is the subject of our research should not make you misunderstand, Bartin houses have not got in common with especially Safranbolu and Yoruk houses which have got the traditional habitation. Traditional habitation is ruined, it has got only buildings which have got 2 or 3 flats have and only saved their frontage.We can see traditional Stone-made rarely.Other iner localities of the houses have changed very much because of the neccessities about uses and most of them have lost their originality.

Most of the houses which are under protection have got 3 flats and have not got any similarity with the Safranbolu and Yoruk houses.Only a few of them have got black cover and musabak.Serander houses special to East Blacksea part can be seen rarely.Most of the houses have got 3 flats.Streets are bordered with the walls of the houses and the gardens.Second flats in traditional Bartin houses are not a transition flat but a normal flat.

Traditional houses in Bartin have got very similar qualities with the wooden houses of 18 and 19. century in Marmara Region.
